Feeling a bit disheartened.

Something really disheartening happened yesterday at our new Lisnabreeny Community orchard.

Around a dozen or so apple trees seem to have died, they looked like they were starting to bud into leaf then just died. Not sure what is going on but it only seems to be 2 varieties that this happened too - Green Donegal Chisel and Irish Peach, and they are both planted at the higher more exposed end of the orchard.

These were also the very first batch we planted too.

Maybe the frost got them, or its just that them varieties dont like the conditions.

We are 140 metres above sea level and it does get quite windy here, we have thousands of other native trees planted all around this orchard so that in years to come this will act as a shelter for the orchard but at the minute it is very exposed up there.

Some of these trees that died are memorial trees or trees that people have sponsored. What I'm going to do is move the memorial tags to other healthier trees in the orchard.

This really bothers me when peoples memorial trees die like this, it was the one thing that nearly put me off ever offering this type of service in the past. I've had them die on families before and have replaced them for them also but I hate to see families loved ones trees die like this.

And then on top of all that I went round to our polytunnel where we have all our 1000 native Irish apple tree cuttings propagating and the greenfly and bugs have been having a feast in there. About 50 or so baby apple trees have been ate to the stem!!

The Paramili-Trees have taken hits this week, casualties of the cause I'll put this down too and send in reinforcements soon.

Thats what you gotta keep on doing is carry on planting and chanting. Its to be expected to take some losses, the main thing is to keep on getting the trees in the ground and learning as we go.

Enthusiasm is the most powerful energy we have. The day I lose my enthusiasm for The Phantom Planter is the day you'll never see me or hear from me again.

I never forget the day Iost my enthusiasm for the Underworld, it was that time it all came crumbling down. My life went into a negative downward spiral like you wouldn't believe. I've seen the powers of enthusiasm, you wouldn't believe some of the sh*t I've gotten away with in the past, should have been dead or in jail 10 times over some of the things I got away with. I was always enthusiastic though about what I did and I believe this is what saved me.

My enthusiasm today lies with The Phantom Planter and Mother Nature. This is what drives me in life.

Find what you are enthusiastic about guys, its a big problem with the world these days is we are not enthusiastic about what we are doing.

Please support my mission on the link below and if you can't please plant a tree.
