My oak trees are thriving!

My oak tree collection is thriving, got them all repotted last month with fresh compost and give them a good weeding and tidy up. They are all looking amazing.

All these oak trees are grown from acorns collected from these famous parent oak trees below.

Bowthorpe Oak

Brian Boru Oak

Blenheim Oak numbered 4012 C.1090

Knighthood Oak

Major Oak aka Robin Hood Oak

Remedy Oak

Old Knobbly Oak

Parliament Oak

Big Belly Oak

Clachan Oak

Brimmon Oak

Capon Oak

Ketts Oak

King Oak Blenheim

Belvoir Oak

I still have many more to collect from in the years ahead. All these trees are going to be planted up one day in a ring making an oak grove museum, preserving the genetics of our ancient oaks from all over the UK and Ireland all in the one place.

I'm going to make up a plaque at each tree telling the stories attached with the parent trees. Like Robin Hood hid inside the Major oak of Sherwood forest. Or Robert Ketts ordered a rebellion from under this oak tree and the Clachan oak, it is said William Wallace rested under this oak tree.

There are many more famous oaks I'm looking to collect from in the years ahead. A few of them I've been checking out for the past couple of years and they haven't been producing acorns. One year though they will and I will have them.

The Majesty oak in Fredville is one that I've checked personally for the last few years and hasn't produced. One year it will and I'll catch it.

Another that was a real struggle to get was from The Belvoir oak, the oldest oak in the Emerald Isle. Ironically right next to The Phantom Planters HQ. This oak is in its last years, melting back into the earth to where it came from. It hasn't given acorns for 12 years or so. But 2 years ago it produced and I was so excited to see this, I had taken loads from it a bit early as I got the greedy head on me and didn't want to miss this opportunity. Out of about 50 or so acorns that I took, only 2 of them grew and the both of them have really struggled. So tiny and small they are but I've been nurturing them and I have one guaranteed decent oak tree from The Emerald Isles oldest oak. This tree has ancient Atlantic rainforest genetics.

All these oak trees contain ancient genetics, genetics that I think will be so important in generations ahead. Once I plant all these together and in the years ahead when they start to flower and cross pollinate, the acorns produced will have all the genetics from the oldest and most famous oak trees from across these islands.

Only when this oak grove ring is complete and all the trees cross pollinate will the portal to the Otherworld be open and The Phantom Planter can get back to his true home with the Tuatha Dé Danann. This will all be in a kids story book that I'm leaving behind along with the oak grove. It was the only way The Phantom Planter could get back to his true home was to create this oak grove from 37 of the oldest oaks on these islands.

My vision is to inspire kids to phantom plant trees for hundreds of years after I'm gone.

I've had this book in my head for years now, from Buddhas, to Fairies, to the Tuatha Dé Danann and the Ogham Tree alphabet and of course wee Betty, she is the messenger from the Tuatha Dé Danann, sent to help and guide me.

I challenge you to phantom plant a tree.

Peace and love
