Stretch!
Every day I stretch, it's something I never miss. I stretch as many times a day as I can. Soon as I wake I've a 15 min stretch routine I do.
It doesn't have to be anything too complicated and not one stretch routine suits everyone.
All our bodies are different. Some stretch postures can be bad for you. Its important to listen to your body and see how you feel.
And remember also to go easy on yourself.
What happened to me after a life of drink and drugs and pulling moves in the underworld was my body ended up ruined. I couldn't even have touched my knees never mind my toes.
I was an absolute mess when I went to yoga classes. So out of touch with my body.
I thought also that I could be some floating yogi in the space of 6 weeks. Trying to force my body into positions its never been before which is really dangerous. Especially when my body was so dehydrated from drink and drugs.
We can't expect after 10 years stagnant and seizing up that we will be all flexible and agile in a matter of months. No chance!!!
It takes years to condition our bodies. It took me a good 5/7 years to really get my body in decent condition.
You know when you look around the world and so many go on about this being bad for you or that diet is bad for you. Like the system is out to poison you everywhere you go from spraying the skies and the foods with all sorts. You know what I mean. People spend their lives spreading stuff like everything is out to kill us. Sort of makes me feel disturbed thinking like this.
But as Napoleon Hill says.
"With every negative comes an equal or even greater positive".
We live in a world where so much knowledge is at our finger tips. We can tap into all sorts of ancient and modern wisdom. Never has there been a time were we can learn so much in a few searches on Google.
From foraging to Tibetan healing breath work, its all there at our finger tips.
Its up to us were we want to direct our energy.
The Buddha says while we are in this human life all energy must be directed at attaining liberation and enlightenment. Don't ask questions or channel our energy into anything else as this is futile/meaningless to the path.
He also says he didn't create the way to enlightenment, its already there embedded in the cosmos, all he did was find it and share it.
Buddhism has made me see what's important in where I direct my time and energy. What is the outcome, what is the point, what will it achieve?
Everything on the outside of the body is riddled with delusions. A finely tuned trap keeping us spiritually entangled like a spider caught in its own web.
The purpose of Buddhism is to recognize delusion and practice virtue. This is the path to a better life and will ultimately lead to Nirvana.
I've another few lifetimes to go though. Once you dig deeper into the workings of the mind you can sort of see how far on the path you are. They teach you markers and states of mind and thought that indicate where you are.
Powerful stuff!
Like once you've overcome certain thought patterns and desires your consciousness has evolved to a higher level. Once it evolves too, there is no going back.
Hope you enjoy guys.
Peace and love
