Do you believe in reincarnation?
In Buddhism they believe in reincarnation, that we are reborn over and over again and each rebirth depends on the quality of the life you live now. Some Buddhist teachers are able to give the exact types of rebirth you will take depending on how your living now. Like one Buddhist teacher said that if you live in complete vanity in this life, your next rebirth could be a very ugly deformed type
person.
Another I heard say that murders will be reborn into rat infested poverty.
When you really get down to the bare bones of Buddhism everything in this life is karma manifesting. We are all self creating beings living out our own karma.
I used to love bodybuilding when I was younger and still do on and off training with my son and other young kids. I do a mix of slow isometric weight training mixed with calisthenics. When I look around at bodybuilders these days eating all them chickens and eggs everyday just to pack on some extra flesh around their bones, I cant help but think at times what will be they're next rebirth.
First time I landed into Jampa Ling Buddhist monastery I read this prayer before dinner, it said do not eat for ego and look at your food as a medicine only to sustain the body. This prayer really had an impact on me about how much we consume, all just of taste, greed and ego. It changed me on how I looked at food when I read this prayer.
We are all running around this world like headless chickens, fluffing our feathers in pride. Exploiting the earths resources so we can run for medals and trophies. Fuelling our bodies solely for our egos. Its absolute madness really.
Sometimes I would rather not have found Buddhism, its sort of made me ashamed of myself. its like it just slapped my ego right up the face. That old saying ignorance is bliss and all that. Buddhism cuts right into you with some deep truths.
Now I'm on this path I cant turn back. I didnt ask to take this red pill as in the Matrix. I must have been spiked!!!
Some days I wish I could take the blue pill and go back into my old life of not knowing any of this.
The only way now is to carry on planting and chanting. I am so grateful though that I've found Buddhsim. My life is ten times better. As I've said I used to look over my shoulder for men in wooly masks or the police. Now I look over and people are baking me apple pies from trees I've phantom planted!
I challenge you all to a bit of planting and chanting.
Peace and love
The Phantom Planter
