Busy winter coming up

Not long now until we start to plant up our spiral oak grove and the heritage Irish orchard we are expanding.

Busy winter here coming up. Love planting trees in winter when they are dormant, then in springtime its pure excitement waiting on them come to life.

Never did I think I would get so much joy from planting trees.

First tree I ever phantom planted was about 10 years ago. It was an apple tree just randomly planted along the side of the road in the heart of Belfast.

I planted this for a laugh just to see what would happen.  Back then I was an alcoholic and drug addict. Have no idea why I went and done this, but me and my mate and all the kids had some fun doing.

Back then I was right in the thick of the underworld, was even worse than what I was growing up. Things weren't good. I had to leave the country for a bit and lost my businesses and house.

Tough times tough measures is how I was seeing thing.

Its amazing how much negativity we put out into the world when our own mindset is dark. We try and justify so much immoral actions. (Well I did anyway).

Looking back now I really did go to the bottom of the barrel in how I was conducting myself in life. Karma wasn't long catching up with me.

But I tell you, this apple tree I phantom planted did something to me. Among all the darkness and turmoil that I created, this apple tree stood there proud in the hood giving selflessly.

Every year hundreds of apples we picked from it.

One time I was down I found a bag under the tree with ID in it, so I brought the bag back to the house.

The lady in the house said I bet it was lying under the apple tree down the road. I said yes it was.

The lady said her son is never away from hanging about under that tree.

I thought to myself, I planted that f**king tree years ago and now kids are hanging around underneath it.

This random act of environmental graffiti did something to my mind.

Among all the fast paced city smog this tree was to me the lotus flower in the mud.

Still today this tree thrives. It's that big now I can climb it.

Back then I never would have thought that 10 years later I would be doing what I'm doing now.

I knew nothing about trees back then, I couldn't even have told you what an acorn was. And all I knew about planting was make sure its the right way up.

This tree awakened me. The Buddha was born under a tree, attained enlightenment under a tree, and passed away under a tree. Definitely something more to trees.

Anyhow guys, here is the link to our fundraising page for our oak and apple tree projects. Would appreciate anything at all.
