Happy new year!

 Happy new year everyone.

Hope you all plant some trees in 2026.

Planted 30 more apple trees yesterday at the Lisnabreeny community orchard. Did these 30 solo in 2 hours. Love the workout you get from doing this. Its a great back pump digging holes and up and down squatting all the time is so good for you too. Then being out in the fresh air giving back to nature just enriches you in so many ways.

Definitely a different type of high on News years Eve!

That brings the total to 192 apple trees I've planted in the past month.

My big right hand man has been measuring out the rest of the field to see how many more apple trees we can fit. Its works out roughly we can fit 450 apple trees. So far there is around 330 planted, so thats another 120 to go, which I will have these in in no time!

I was just saying to my mate yesterday that in 50 years time people from Belfast will be coming up to this community orchard and filling boxes with apples and taking them back down to share out around the city. This orchard has the potential of producing atleast a million apples a year as all our trees are on mm106 rootstock, which when fully grown in about 10 years time will be a nonstop abundance of heritage apples, apples like you will never taste in the shops BTW.

Some amazing varieties in here, Ardcairn Russet, Kerry Pippin, Bloody Butcher, Cavan Newington, Kemp, Lough key Crab. Keegans Crab, Irish Peach, Sweet William, Mrs Perry, Kemp. Allington Pippin, Yellow Clare, No Surrender and many many more we have at this community orchard. I'll get the list all finalised one day. I have them all mapped and recorded.

This is probably the most amazing thing I've ever did with my life creating all this. If you are going to make any new years resolutions guys maybe make it that you contribute to nature and community some way. When we contribute to nature and community, we are contributing to ourselves. What we do for others, we do for us.

Soil, Soul and Society. Its all interconnected and interdependent. We cant possibly heal ourselves if nature and society is sick around us. Its a Triad of effort.

Me personally guys after years and years of studying Buddhism I think so many spiritual practices these days are now selfish. Practices that would have attained enlightenment back in the Buddhas day I dont believe will work today. Back in Buddhas day the worlds great forests were all intact and society didnt have all the poisons we have today.

The Buddhas teachings would be very different I believe if he was about today.

So too would Jesus's, Lao Tzu's and the many other great beings that existed.

The ways of earning spiritual merit change according to our surroundings.

No way will the gates of the heavenly realms be open if we are not going to make an effort and clean up the mess down here.

These are just my own personal thoughts on this. I may be wrong but I know one thing. Planting and chanting and actively trying to do my bit for nature and community every day has transformed my life over the past 10 years.

I talk to so many people on different spiritual paths all the time, and when I say to them lets go and plant some trees for the community its like yea yea maybe next week. You can see they've no interest at all

People are using spirituality these days as a drug or to make money.

Karma yoga is where its at guys.

All the great gurus of today speak of karma yoga. Selfless service for the wellbeing of all. And that includes nature. Thats the real spiritual practices of today.

Guys please do help the expansion of this amazing orchard on the link below.
