Hope you had a good Christmas
Hope you all had a good Christmas guys.
21 heritage Irish apple trees we phantom planted yesterday. Me and my right hand man have been planting trees every Christmas day now for the past many years. We even had another helper who joined us too. The young lad was out on his new bike and I asked him did he want to plant a tree. He was well up for it! He now has his own apple tree at our orchard to visit anytime. Great Christmas day memory with a difference it will be for this young lad.
Thats 66 apple trees I've phantom planted in the past few weeks with another 352 to go!
All will be getting phantom planted about the country. It gives me more pleasure going back in years to come tracking down all my trees than it would be to sell these. I have watched my mate sell his half of the trees and turn into thousands and dont get me wrong, it did cross my mind to sell mine. But no, thats just when greed sets in. I make enough money from my wee mattress business. This has always put the bread and butter on my table.
This page is about raising community spirit and promoting much needed selfless action in the world today.
In Buddhism it is forbidden to profit from the Dharma as it can corrupt your pure intention with greed and turn your path to liberation in the opposite direction.
My work for nature is my Dharma practice.
I trust the Dharma will always look after me.
This year will be the most amount of apple trees I've ever planted in one season. Next year I wont be producing so much though, more so I am going to concentrate on the linage and genetics, looking for really old healthy heritage apple trees and propagating scions/cuttings from them. Quality over quantity.
I am also going more into propagating cuttings from really old native yews, hollys and junipers.
Just like my collection of all the oldest oaks in the UK and Ireland. I have several really old yew, holly and juniper trees in mind that I'm keen to keep the linage and genetics alive.
Really going to put a lot of effort into learning about propagating cuttings. Love the idea of having yew trees grown from trees that are 5000 year old. The yew tree of Annagh is just one I have in mind.
Will get back over to the Fortingall yew again too, said to be one of the oldest trees in the world. The oldest Irish yew in Florence Court is another on my list too.
I challenge you all to phantom plant a tree
Peace and love
The Phantom Planter
