200 willow trees planted!
Me and my big Druid right hand man went yesterday and took around 200 willow cuttings from in the forest and planted them all around the wet parts of our Lisnabreeny community orchard.
Over the coming years the willow which loves wet ground will dry the place up, making it more suitable for other trees to grow too.
Its so easy to get yourself some free trees this time of year, all you do with these willow cuttings is push them straight into the ground and they will grow into trees. This works with Elder, Dogwood and many other varieties.
Doing these willow cuttings has been a great thing for us to revert too as it can be done in really wet weather. We still have around 100 apple trees to plant but no way could we be digging holes in waterlogged fields.
The willow cuttings push into the ground even easier when the field is wet and also it lets us see where all the puddles are forming so we know what parts of the fields needs the willow more.
Always makes me think how much we need trees on our land, especially here on the Emerald Isle.
We must be one of the wettest parts of the world and one of the lowest places with tree cover. We are turning into one big swamp with all the deforestation over the years. You only need to look at bogs to see what the land will probably one day look like if we dont start planting more forests.
Bogs came about as a result of deforestation.
We dont start planting more trees we are all going down the Bog!
I always think that one of the reasons we never let land rewild itself is it will just prove that nature doesn't need us. No one can make a job out of it, rewilding doesn't need managed.
The land just needs to have grazing animals took of it for a load of years and the land rewilds itself. Natural forests will begin to flourish.
Theres no money in this though hence why its not getting down.
Parts of Scotlands mountains have had all grazing animals removed and its amazing what has happened to the land.
I visited kingussie in the Highlands where they did just this and I couldn't believe what was growing on the mountain ranges. Birches and Aspens growing like champions and I had never seen so many Junipers in my life thriving!
Ireland is said to have one of lowest native tree coverage in Europe, sad as our ancient Ogham alphabet was based on trees. They say more streets, towns and places are named after trees in Ireland than anywhere else in the world. Yet we hardly have any trees!!!
Like they cut all the Hawthorns down, built a housing development and name it the Hawthorns. And not one Hawthorn tree planted in site! You see this all over the Emerald Isle.
What is going on here!!!
The system will never be fixed by the system. The monopoly board is a farce. I'm glad they disqualified me many years ago as I have never wanted to get involved in the ratrace again. At the time being made bankrupt I want to do myself in. My ego was shattered. But out of a muddy pond blooms a lotus flower. I found my meaning in life. I found something that enriches my soul and not my ego.
We are missing our connection to who and what we really are. Mother nature is just waiting for you to come home. She holds no grudges.
I challenge you to phantom plant a tree
Peace and love
The Phantom Planter and Wee Betty
