Love these junipers
Rain Rain go to Spain and never show your face again!
Thats a very common saying we used to say here growing up. Seems like it just never stops raining here at times.
I have another 130 apple trees to plant and about 50 specialist oak trees as soon as this rain does one. Although the forecast for the next 10 days is more rain.
Yesterday I took a walk up the Mourne mountains to check on some of my phantom planted trees. That put a smile on my face alright when I seen how well my Junipers are doing. These 2 in the pics I phantom planted around 5 years ago. They are growing like champions up here, so lush and green. Its great to see them shine in the winter when all the ferns have died off around them. Come summer time you can just see the heads of them poking out.
I have trees phantom planted on so many walks that I go on. It really gives you the best excuse to get out in nature when you phantom plant trees.
I dont know about you but I dont just plant a tree and forget about it. I always want to go and see it. Its environmental graffiti for me and I like to go back and see how my creative art is doing!
Where these junipers are is a steep walk up hill for about 20 mins and I'm not joking but I bet I could beat anyone in a walking race to my trees. The enthusiasm and excitement of seeing what your wild phantom planted trees will look like gets me up the hill in no time.
This was one of the reasons I always phantom planted in high up places as way back at the start of my phantom planting I was still smoking 20 a day and drinking a case of beer along with snorting bags of peas and barley daily.
I thought to myself if I plant trees up in the mountains I will always want to go up and see how they're doing which will in turn get me fit and clear my lungs.
This method to my madness worked. Me and wee betty spent years up in these mountains carrying trees and tools and in the hotter weather drums of water.
Hundreds we phantom planted. Then there was fires and grazing animals that kept destroying my trees.
All meant to be though as I was forced of the mountain and took to the streets of Belfast to phantom plant fruit trees.
There are only handful that survived and these junipers are some of them.
It was all still worth it though as I am fitter now than I've ever been and clean of drink, drugs and cigs.
Anyhow soon as this rain eases and the land dries a bit I will be back phantom planting these 130 apple trees all around the country for the people and nature to enjoy.
January is the worst month for everyone guys and it has been the worse for me too. If you can help my mission just a little would really appreciate it. Please do donate whatever you can on the link below.
