Great communal day

 Yesterday I took a group of people around the estate picking apples and to show them many of our other phantom planted trees we have. With the hot summer we had so many of the apple trees are ripening early. Many people went away with bags of apples and we were non stop eating apples the whole day straight of the trees. 


Then I get a nice message from a lady who seen me out tending to her apple tree that we phantom planted a few years ago in memory of her dad saying thank you for the apple tree, the love, connection and memories your apple tree has given us will go on for generations. 


I have always said her apple tree is one of the best in the estate. Its the one in the pic with the wooden surround and me bent over. I notice that the trees that get shown the most love and attention grow better than others. 


The more light you shine, the more shadows you cast. 


From the massacre of one of our biggest community orchards I've had a lot more critics on my page. I think many of then think I came up the River Lagan in a bubble and I have no idea what I'm doing. 11 years now my life has been with trees and nature. I have planted personally at least 50K trees with at least 5-10K of these being fruit trees. I've learned a thing or two about trees and nature. 


My gut feeling and intuitions has always been that we cant leave helping nature to the so called experts. Look around you guys. Rising populations. Houses getting built everywhere. Humans are loosing connection to the natural world like never before and the state of our ecology has never been worse. Our land and water has never been more poisoned.  And let alone all this climate change stuff.

Trees are the number one antidote to all this. We dont need to cut anymore down. 

Something like 60% of the land mass of the Emerald Isle is foreign non native Italian rye grass to feed farming animals. So dont go on at me about native non native BS. 


Here are a few words from my Guru Big D on this. 


We have bigger houses but smaller families

More conveniences but less time

We have more degrees but less sense

More knowledge but less judgement

More experts but more problems

More medicines but less healthiness 

These are times of fast foods but slow digestion 

Tall man short character 

Steep profits but shallow relationships 

We've been all the way to the moon and back but have trouble connecting with our neighbours

It is a time when there is much in the window but nothing in the room. 


I believe fruit and nut trees should be the number one trees planted on our landscape. And planted by us the people building connection back to the natural world. One day we might need all this food on our doorstep.


Let the rest of them nutcase ecologists starve trying to save some rare fungi or moth that they go on about. This is about our own survival. 


The time has come that we all need to get out planting food trees everywhere. 


I challenge you to phantom plant a tree

My new home!

 My new home is getting delivered today! Can't believe it!  Thank you to everyone thats helped me buy this. It's been a long time coming for me.  My girlfriend thinks I've been living in penance for the past 7 years.
