My weekends work

 Me and wee betty had a busy weekend with the trees. Had some grass cutting to do down round the estate keeping the Hood looking like a nature loving Buddhahood. Also did my weekly cut of  The Phantom Planters Oak Spiral which is looking amazing btw. 

The portal to the Tuatha De Danann will be open one day! 

Maybe in about 12 years time when all my baby iconic oak saplings produce flowers and cross pollinate. Thats the plan anyhow. Playing about with a bit of Druid wizardry here guys.

Those who don't believe in magic will never find it. 


Also planted a potted pine tree I think it is that was out the back of my old mate Billies back garden. This tree had been out his back for as long as I can remember and in billies last years he was unable to water it. He always asked me to water it and I always told him that after he passes I will take it somewhere and plant it. 

So we planted it down the bottom of our Lisnabreeny Community Orchard yesterday. 


Someone said on here in my post yesterday about this tree im planting that thats precisely why your a dangerous idiot planting a tree I know nothing about. I said all I know is my old mate billy got it smuggled in by the Columbian Cartel. 


What do some of these nutcases go on about at times. Billy bought this tree in a garden centre down the road. He didnt buy it off Pablo Escobar for flip sake. They would make you think your planting an ecological bomb. 

Take your complaints to the customs and excise and stop putting off people phantom planting. If they sell it in the garden centres get phantom planting. 


The government plants more non native species than anyone.


Me and wee betty also checked about one hundred of our heritage Irish apple trees. I have been going round them all over the past while checking them over. Making sure the memorial tags are not too tight and trimming off any unwanted material. 

It amazes me how well trees grow when planted small bare root. 

All our 600 apple tree are on mm106 rootstocks in a place thats very exposed and windy. The majority of our trees are solid as a rock. Half are 2 year old and the other half were just planted winter past. 


It always make me think about the massive trees our councils plant that cost thousands and need all sorts of supports. Also there is a high chance these trees will die if not watered during heatwaves. I've also seen that in the years ahead they have much higher chance of getting blown over. I've planted my fair share of larger root ball trees and they are a hit and a miss if they root in right. 


Plant them small, have some patience and save us all a fortune. It does look good planting larger trees but this type of planting is relatively new and not natural. be interesting to see how they will all do in say 50 years time.

  A bit about me and how I became the phantom planter. Magnus Barefoot Grave!

Hidden away off the old train lines with a disused carriage lying in ruins just outside Downpatrick Northern Ireland lies the grave of Magnus Barefoot,  Viking King of Norway, it is believed he was killed in  battle in this area in AD 1103 and buried under the stone you can see in the video.  Love this part of the world, so historic!
