I've planted a fruit forest!

Image
Never thought I would see the day I could hide in a fruit forest that I've phantom planted! Last night it just struck me as I was walking around The Phantom Planters HQ that one day about 6 years ago this place was all an open field. Today it is packed with hundreds of fruit trees buzzing with life and you can get lost in it. Was down last night checking for windfall fruit, there was some but not as much as I thought. All the trees were holding up well getting battered with the storm. Just one plum tree branch I seen broke but looked like this was about to snap anyway with the weight of plums on it. Had my first beauty of bath apple which is an early ripening variety and tasted amazing. There's something special about picking an apple from a tree and eating it. Especially when the tree has been phantom planted. Always taste better when theres that element of rascality involved.  You know my advice which many people dont seem to like about tree planting, is just get out and do...

Dig where you stand.

Image
This grew from a tree I phantom planted many years ago!  Planted without permission in an overgrown bit of waste ground.  Its an offering to the community and nature that just keeps on increasing as the years go by.  I dont think there's a better positive long lasting action we can do as individuals like phantom planting fruit trees.  Many said back at the start that I dont know what I'm doing and my trees will get ripped out or destroyed.  Certainly not the case. I have thousands of fruit trees thriving. All phantom planted without permission.  Instead of falling for the next psychological mindf**k having the majority of us divided and worrying about things we can and never will fix.  Why not just dig where you stand. Do the positive deeds within where your own senses. People talk to me about mainstream media all the time and I haven't a clue what's going on half the time.  Passed Trump there in Scotland last week and didn't even know he wa...

A phantom special story.

Image
This is a variety of apple tree that I've named "phantom special".  Many years ago developers ripped out an old tree that I always went and got apples  from. For many years I took kids to pick apples off this tree.  Then one day I landed down and the apple tree had been ripped out by the roots and gone.  I found a couple of broken branches lying around, so I put up on the page would anyone know what to do with these broken branches to grow them into trees.  A good supporter of mine Des Scholes from across the water in Nairn Scotland said if I post the broken branches over to him he can graft them onto new rootstock.  I got them sent off to Des and within about a 48hr turnaround the trees were sent back to me all grafted onto their new rootstock. Des managed to get about 7 trees that all survived from the broken branches.  Here in the pic is one of the trees today planted in our new Lisnabreeny community orchard thriving and full of apples. This w...

Lady finds her tree

Image
Got a message and pic there from a lady who said she had just traveled from Donegal which is over 100 miles away to our new orchard to look for a memorial tree we planted for her.  Glad she managed to find the tree.  Not something I'm going to be doing again is planting up memorial orchards like this. Many of you have probably noticed that I'm not promoting anything on my social media sites anymore either, like sponsor a tree or pay for a memorial tree to be planted.  I haven't been asking for donations lately either to support my work or been promoting my mattress business on here too.  People still do ask can they donate towards me. For now I'm ok for money. I would much rather you planted a tree than give to me.  With gifts and donations can come obligations. Obligations and requests that I just dont have the headspace for. Its only me running this page and always will be. Its how I like it. Been in business way too long to know what sort of soul steal...

Acorns getting ripe

Image
Acorns getting ripe. Keep an eye out for these on big old trees and collect them come autumn. Germinate, grow and phantom plant.  These are the easiest things to grow and is somethimg we can all do for nature and our own wellbeing.  Feels good being out around old trees too.   And they say growing oak trees brings good fortune, wealth and prosperity.  I challenge you to become a phantom planter!  Peace and love  The Phantom Planter

Tree planting in Scotland

Image
Planted a memorial holly tree yesterday for some friends in Portgordon Scotland.  Also rescued from pots and planted an Irish yew, a couple of rowans, a birch and a cherry tree.  These trees had been lying choking up in pots for some time nearly dead and now they're planted in my friends garden.  Was nice to meet up with all you guys and thank you so much for your hospitality. Had an amazing time.  Will be back again soon to see how the trees are going and to see you guys too. What a nice part of the world it is up on the North Sea side of Scotland.  Past 2 days the sun has been shining. Lovely beaches and lots of really old towns and Harbours. Really loved the harbours, great for a dip.  It was a proper traditional Scotland type of place. Everyone was so nice and chilled out.  Seen dolphins, seals and apparently whales and orcas pass a lot also. Its a magnet for people with binoculars and cameras looking out into the ocean. I'm now getting my co...

Just get phantom planting.

Image
Did a post the other day about me coming across this random tree by Loch Lomand and some people seemed to have gotten there knickers in a twist. Some accusing me of planting a non native tree that could wreck devastation to the surrounding areas. Like an ecological bomb has just been planted.  I'm very sure who ever planted this tree bought it from the local garden centre down the road and it hasn't been smuggled in by the Columbian Cartel.  Also where this tree was planted is surrounded by non native laurels, beech and probably a many more species. Collecting and growing native trees is always much better for the ecology and survival of the tree but I think its more important to get people planting trees first and building their connections back to nature.  Like me 10 years ago, I hadn't a clue, I couldn't even have told you what an acorn looked like.  Fast-forward to today and its a passion of mine preserving the linage of ancient oak trees and Irish variety ...
